“Honor Your Parents – Halachic and Legal Perspectives”

A comparative analysis of the dynamic parent-child relationship and the intersection between Law and Halacha.

Hon. Judge Rachel “Ruchie” E. Freier, Acting Judge of the Supreme Court of New York (Kings County), was the presenter of the 7th Hildesheim Lecture. Rachel Freier, known to her friends and family as Ruchie, was elected as a Civil Court Judge in November 2016 and is an Acting Judge of the Supreme Court of New York (Kings County). Before becoming a judge, she maintained law offices in Borough Park and Monroe, N.Y. She is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey, and Washington DC. In addition, Rachel Freier is the initiator and founder of Ezras Nashim, a volunteer organization for women’s emergency care. She is a proud, devoted mother and grandmother of a Hasidic family. She is particularly committed to her Hasidic community and addresses the general Jewish community in her public appearances.
In her lecture, Rachel Freier presented a comparative analysis of the dynamic parent-child relationship and the intersection of law and halacha.
